portrays powerful cinematic melodies and tight Bulgarian rhythms, combined with narratives experienced throughout the journey of life. The band, helmed by Finnish-Bulgarian singer-songwriter Anna Dantchev, journeys musically between the aesthetics of traditional Bulgarian music and jazz & blues, all provided by Dantchev’s compositions. Anna Dantchev, known also by her artist name Bulgarian Voice from Finland, is a charismatic and multi-faceted singer, whose emotion-penetrating voice captivates the audience in the life stories she recites.
The debut album “Say it”, for the first time highlights the musical legacy of the Bulgarian minority in Finland, and the musical aesthetics as part of the Finnish multilayered culture. The band’s musical pulse is driven by tradition, while elaborating eloquently in the urbane musical language of today, confronting boundaries of genres with a flirtatious attitude. The album was awarded Finnish Folk Music Album in 2020 and was listed also on world music charts internationally.
The second album 'The Lions We Are' tells stories about courage. Inspired by the old migration stories of her own family, Dantchev wrote eight songs about courage in the middle of the deepest moments of global pandemic. The album and music on it is like an old ship that takes the traveller away from the old shores to seek the new ones.
